Our back yard is full of this pretty plant so I decided that it surely had a great medicinal use and I could harvest it and have enough to last me all year. So I quickly Googled it and found that it was none other that the deadly snakeroot! It is associated with the death of Abe Lincoln's mother! She is said to have drank milk from cows that had eaten the plant and developed "milk sickness" which led to her death.
Upon further investigation I did find that planting a fair amount of snakeroot around your home will protect you and yours from all forms of jinxes, hoaxes and voodoo so... at least we have that! Whew!
